In the last few years, we have witnessed a battle by homes and offices to avoid clutter. Many businesses are even trying to go completely paperless in a move to preserve the environment and reduce deforestation. Clutter, is a term used to refer to a disorderly state which is usually a result of excessive hoarding. We all understand what this means. We all understand what it means to get attached to things that really have no use at that particular time. Shoes, pens, magazines, CDs, food wrappers and the like, all form part of clutter. Sometimes we do not want to get rid of junk. In many cases, this junk just sits in the room or closet or desk or even our cars. Statistics reveal that clutter results in over 30% loss of productivity for businesses. It also creates an unhealthy work environment which can be dangerous and contribute to work-related accidents.
Many homes also struggle with clutter. Some homes struggle even more than offices. Offices can at least regulate clutter because there are work place rules and regulations which at least lead to the storage or shredding of unwanted clutter. But few homes are regulated by laws and the owners may not even spend enough time at home. There are homes where the occupants do not even spend a third of the day there. One would think that the less time they spend at home then the less clutter there should be. But this is not the case in many places. People who do not spend time at home in many cases do not have time to clean and remove unwanted items. And this leads to excessive clutter. We come into houses and we find shoes magazines, CDs, food wrappers, grocery bags, clothes and almost anything that exists in a home and not in its regular place.
Attempting to deal with clutter can be difficult if there is no proper storage system in place. Recently people have been tuning to storage cubes which are stackable bins made of plastic or wood or polyester. These cubes have become popular because they are convenient. Sometimes, people already have storage cabinets to store unwanted paper and other material. Many just throw their clutter into the garage. But organization is important because there may come a time when you may want to retrieve something. This may end up being difficult especially if what you are trying to retrieve is important.
But cubes can be easy to store even if you have other storage systems in place because you can simply place them next to each other or on top of the other. People with cabinets find that storage cubes are very convenient because they can be moved from one place to another. Being light makes them ideal to fit into small spaces because one of the biggest problems with clutter is lack of space. Even in the garage, cubes can be very ideal because they contribute to more organization.
